There are new redevelopment plans for 490 Adelaide St (the building that had that suspicious fire a year ago) to turn it into a spec restaurant space. I don’t think anything has been submitted to the City yet. The building is on the City’s Heritage Register.
There were plans to demolish the Normal Rogul building next door (480 Adelaide) and build a new 2-storey spec restaurant a while ago, but that has been put on hold. I suspect it’s now cancelled as it’s the same owners as 490 Adelaide and most likely decided to only redevelop 490 Adelaide as renovating the existing fire-damaged building is probably more cost effective than building from scratch next door. There is a lack of retail/restaurant space on that stretch between Portland and Maud so any new development is welcomed here. Here's the developer’s link: 490 Adelaide - Carlyle Communities I personally would like to see 480 Adelaide redeveloped as the building and parking lot is such an eyesore it’s on the corner facing the park and Waterworks.
