OMB pre-hearing has been scheduled for August 7, 2018

Developers for this proposal have appealed to the OMB ... case # PL180067.  Now a pre-hearing has been scheduled for August 7th.  The City produced a report for the April 4th meeting of the Toronto and East York Community Council outlining the reasons it will contest this proposal at the OMB.  Access that "Request for Direction" report here.

Prior to this pre-hearing date, the GDNA plans to hold an "OMB Workshop" at which residents can learn about their options for participating at an OMB hearing.  Join the GDNA or subscribe to our mailing list to keep informed regarding this initiative.

A community consultation meeting for 135-143 Portland Street

11/21/2017

On December 5th, City Council will likely approve the inclusion of 94 King-Spadina properties on the City of Toronto’s Heritage Register, listed here.  As it happens, four of the five properties earmarked for total or partial demolition to make way for this proposal are on this list.

At the Community Consultation Meeting last night, the City made it quite clear it was refusing this application, this new heritage status being a primary issue ... link to the Staff Report here.

Attendees focused more on the height of the building which, at 52.7 metres, greatly exceeds a 45 metre (all-in) limit the City intends to hold for the west precinct of the King-Spadina neighbourhood.

GDNA members and friends have been invited to participate in a follow-up dialogue with the developer about this proposal.  Interested individuals should email gdnatoronto@gmail.com for details.

Local residents have received notice of a Community Consultation meeting concerning this new planning application for 135-143 Portland Street.  This development site (demarcated in red) is close to the one for 502 Adelaide (demarcated in purple) and replaces five homes in this stretch of road:

According to the proposal, the left-most red brick facade will be retained while other existing buildings on the site will be demolished.
