Last night a team from Allied REIT, Westbank and BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) presented its formative vision of a mixed-use development to be located on the south side of King Street West at Brant Street.

Very concern about the density, traffic, noise from bars and restaurants and the lost of valuable heritage architecture in the area. In the name of zoning for people to work and LIVE in the neighbourhood, as now ,the result will be increased in loud noise through the night, further affecting sleep pattern and mental health, minimizing comfort in homes. Too much loud noise, music and altercation in the King Street areas already. Further grand scale development is to benefit developers , while current home dwellers who also pay taxes have little experience from our authority in protecting rights to live in a reasonable degree of tranquility in this neighbourhood . We are in need of strong leadership to stop the continual deterioration of an otherwise charming neighbourhood.

Lucia ... hope you will attend the Community Consultation Meeting on May 16th at 7:30 in Room 310 at Metro Hall (55 John Street). At the Q&A, the obvious question that I see is ... what kind of retail/restaurant/bar tenants are expected? Traffic might get better by the time this proposal is reality since King Street is becoming a transit street (another meeting May 18th, 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
InterContinental Toronto Centre, Ballroom, 225 Front St W @ Simcoe St). So much happening in our neighbourhood!
See you there?
