Thank you to all who came out to our community cleanup yesterday! It was part of Clean Toronto Together, a city-wide initiative to beautify neighbourhoods on the weekend closest to Earth Day. The city provided logistical support by providing bags and gloves (we used the surplus we had from previous years) and they arranged pickup of the garbage later on. Thanks to the staff and friends of The Ace Hotel for their cleanup of St. Andrew's Playground Park the day before. A Rotblotts employee joined us on the day of our cleanup, and we are grateful for their support. (Don't think we didn't notice that they put one of our posters on their front door!) Below are some photos from the event. At the bottom, you can see how much garbage there was lying around in our little catchment between Spadina and Bathurst, Queen and King. Our MPP, Chris Glover, was there (our secretary ran into him midway), so we thank him for pitching in the effort as well.
Last but not least, the results of our efforts. What a load of garbage!

What great weather today to drop off dead batteries, old paint tins, and other hazardous household materials at various truck spots along Wellington. People walked, biked, and drove up to do their part.
There were a number of trucks out earlier today but things are moving slower than anticipated for a repair and repaving of Toronto's most famous alley. Let's hope the work is completed soon and before the GDNA's 'CleanUp Toronto' activity takes place.
The dedication of this plaque that pays homage to the victims of a tragedy in the Garment District .took place in a moving ceremony on Oct. 6, 2021 in Victoria Memorial Square at Niagara and Portland streets. It is now affixed on Richmond Street near the site of the original building and worth visiting,
