The GDNA supports the Toronto Noise Coalition and its efforts to develop a robust Noise Management Plan for the City of Toronto. This past Thursday (May 19th) the Municipal Licensing and Standards Committee convened to consider a revised (May 5th) report on proposed amendments to Chapter 591, Noise requested by the Committee at an earlier meeting on January 22nd. In the end, this particular item was deferred, with instructions to the Municipal Licensing and Standards Committee to “establish a working group with representatives from the Toronto Noise Coalition, Residents Associations, construction and entertainment business associations, BIAs and other relevant stakeholders and report back on September 21, 2016 meeting”. This was our desired outcome as the last report bypassed any consultation ... and consultation was obviously required given that the Committee received over 100 written comments and 14 requests to speak at this past Thursday's meeting. | Anyone wanting to be involved going forward can review the May 5th report and/or sign up to join the Toronto Noise Coalition |
